Every Child Is An Artist
In the eternal words of Pablo Picasso, I really do believe that ‘every child is an artist’. In fact it is a mantra I try to remember when tapping into my imagination in order to create new work. Dipping into the vivid imagination I had a child and harness that feeling of total creative freedom. I would draw, paint and make pictures for the pure love and enjoyment of it, and nothing else.
My happiest memories of school were spent in the Art Department where I gained a brilliant education and was encouraged and inspired by a phenomenal teacher. It it fair to say that I pursued a creative career thanks to her. So I was completely humbled when Audrey McLean, Year 7 Form Tutor of The British International School of Houston, Texas got in touch to ask if she could share the artwork created by her pupils which had been inspired by some of my work.
The fantastic artwork in this blog was created by 11 and 12 year olds in Year 7 at The British International School of Houston. I hope they brighten your day as they did mine. Thank you so much Mrs.McLean, your pupils have inspired me in return!
